Ellora's Cave

Ellora's Cave plans on a new erotica line of books. While the name has not been decided/announced, they hope to launch in late 2006 -- and are accepting submissions now.

This will be a line of erotica, not erotic romance. (Basically the same sexuality level as E-rated EC stories, the same taboos.) Stories do not have to be a "romantic" nor need commitment. But, stories do not need to avoide romance either. The main focus is on the sexual relationship instead of the romantic one.

Gay or Lesbian stories welcome. Stories can be 10K to 100K.

All submissions must be sent to Submissions@ellorascave.com, and should state "EC erotica submission" in the Subject line. Attach a detailed full-story synopsis, the first three chapters, and the last chapter. For stories of less than 20K words, attach the synopsis and full manuscript. The file must be in .doc or .rtf format. We do not take paper submissions. No query letter is needed. Response time is one to eight months.

Guideline details are here.

And they've made some news recently, as in this article: Hearts, flowers and racy passages

Best Date Ever

Alyson Books presents two new projects which are open to submissions:

BEST DATE EVER
True Stories That Celebrate Gay Relationships
Edited by Lawrence Schimel

BEST DATE EVER
True Stories That Celebrate Lesbian Relationships
Edited by Linda Alvarez

Tired of those “dates from hell” stories? So are we. Dating sucks, and relationships are even harder, and in the gay & lesbian community isn’t there added pressure and expectation? And bigger disappointment? So, we want to turn the tables on the dating scene and find the good stuff. Frankly, we’re looking for true stories of fabulous dates: Whether it’s a first date or a tenth, dinner in or dancing out, a magical night from a vacation or a Sunday afternoon in the park. You can be new lovers or longtime partners, a date is a date, and when you’re with that someone
special the event can take on such significance. It could be any time, any occasion…you tell us when it was. But keep this in mind: we don’t just want a recounting of the date, we want to feel like we were there. Give us details, dialogue, the time and the place, the season and the reason. In other words, take us along on your best date ever.

Alyson will publish two separate volumes of Best Date Ever, one for gay men, the other for lesbians. And remember, this is NOT a collection of erotica, or a call for fictional love stories. Best Date Ever is a celebration of romance. We want to share in the magic, we hope to inspire other couples to rekindle the love, and lastly, we wish to confirm to the single and searching that not every date is over before it even began.

Details:

* Approximate story length: 2,500  4,000 words
* Stories should be sent in a Word document to bestdate@alyson.com
* Deadline is July 31, 2006
* Tentative publication is Spring 2007

Don’t forget to add your contact info, including name, address, phone number and email address.

Please do not send questions or requests to the email address, only stories. For more information check the website.

Torquere Press

Torquere Press is a full service e-book publisher featuring gay and lesbian literary fiction, erotica, and erotic romance. We publish twelve or more paperbacks per year, and anywhere between three and ten e-books per month. We're reading for 2007 for our main line of full length novels, called Top Shelf books, but there's a lot more to us than that.

We have a serial fiction line titled Turn of the Screw that pays a percentage of all subscriptions during the run of the serial, and then reverts to a standard e-book at our usual royalty rates. These serials are very popular with readers who like cliffhangers.

Several other royalty lines, such as the shorter 20,000-30,000 word High Balls and Everyday Spectre lines (for speculative and modern paranormal fiction), give readers and writers alike a chance at varying lengths and prices. In 2007 we're adding two more lines in this range, Games
People Play, featuring the light side of BDSM, and Spurs and Saddles, which features cowboys.

For the writer or reader who prefers shorter tales, we produce Single Shots, Birthstones (stone themed stories), Arcana (tarot themed stories) and Taste Tests (collections of 3-4 short stories on a single theme.) These books are between 10,000 and 20,000 words in length and pay flat
fees based on sales averages.

Our full length anthologies run the gamut from several short stories to 2-3 novellas and pay flat fees based on projected sales.

We will not accept stories with underage (below the age of 18) characters or stories that contain rape or other gratuitous violence. We will also reject stories that are clearly cases of copyright infringement, including any that have obviously been converted from fanfiction or that
are based on TV shows, movies or literary characters.

Please read the writer's guidelines for details, general formatting and submission guidelines, located here.

Please note they also have calls for the following:

Eternal Darkness
Edited by Rob Knight, scheduled release: October 15, 2006
Deadline: June 1, 2006

Vampires are an icon in our society. Powerful, erotic, they call to us for reasons we can't really begin to understand. We love them, and we love them even more if they're somehow a little vulnerable, if the playing field is leveled just a bit.

In Eternal Darkness, editor Rob Knight wants to explore the world of the vampire with a twist, the world of the blind vampire. How would sightlessness affect a creature of the night? What sort of lover would be attracted to this very special creature? Surprise us and thrill us with
imaginative, erotic tales.

All stories must be gay or lesbian in content, erotic, and fall between 10,000 and 15,000 words. We're only looking for a few good yarns for this one, maybe five to seven stories, depending on length. Deadline for submissions is June 1, 2006. Please be aware, however, that while we
will acknowledge your submission on receipt, we hold all acceptances until after the submission deadline. Payment is $45.00 upon publication, and copies of the book. Eternal Darkness will publish October 15, 2006. We ask exclusive electronic rights for two years. Reprints are not
encouraged, but will be considered at a rate of $10.00 per story. Please see our general submission guidelines for formatting and content restrictions.

Shifting Again
Edited by Rob Knight, scheduled release: October 15, 2006
Deadline: June 1, 2006

Love animal attraction? Can't get enough of werewolves and cat people and shape shifters of all sorts? Then submit a story for the new Torquere Press anthology Shifting Again!

A third installment in the series edited by Rob Knight that includes Shifting and Shifting Too, Shifting Again will feature stories about the beast in all of us. Featuring shape shifters of all kinds, Shifting Again stories must be gay in content, erotic, and fall between 10,000 and
15,000 words. We're only looking for a few good tales (or tails?) for this one, maybe five to seven stories, depending on length.

Deadline for submissions is June 1, 2006. Please be aware, however, that while we will acknowledge your submission on receipt, we hold all acceptances until after the submission deadline. Payment is $45.00 upon publication, and copies of the ebook. Shifting Again will publish October 15, 2006. We ask exclusive electronic rights for two years. Reprints are not encouraged, but will be considered at a rate of $10.00 per story. Please see our general submission guidelines for formatting and content restrictions.

Homoerotic stories only, please.

Love Gone Wrong Submissions Call

Seeking stories for an anthology of lesbian short fiction on your favorite subject: love gone wrong. Way wrong. Over and done with wrong. Tell me about the girl that got away or ran away. Give me the best of your worst, and we will create something beautiful from the mess.

E-mail your submission to sht_story@yahoo.com. No attachments please. Paste the story into the message window. Also include:

"My short story "[title of story]" is unpublished; I grant First Serial Rights for publication in an anthology of short fiction.

Sincerely,

name

Writer for Sexual Content Website

Seeking a writing conversant in sexual subjects, sexual dysfunction and general sex ed.

This work will be incorporated into an expanded version of a current website ranked #1 by Google in its category for the past 5 years. For a more valuable, contemporary look, it needs much more content. The material would belong to me and I will pay $25 per article. I would be happy to have only 1 or 2 people do all the writing if they have adequate time.

I am seeking a writer conversant with the field of sexuality: men and women's sexual dysfunction, differences in desire, the impact of disease on sex, healthy functioning, some research summary, the psychology of sex, etc.

This is more of a sex education site focused on sex surrogacy although there may be room for some erotica as well.

Please send (2)sample articles reflecting sexual content you have written, plus resume with phone number.

To respond, or for more information, contact tara@sexsurrogateofla.com

Erotic Dreams

Fiction

Erotic Dreams accepts fictional stories between 500 and 2000 words. If you have a longer story, send an email to sable@bysable.com, we would be happy to consider your story for a series. m/m, f/f stories are acceptable. The only things we will NOT consider are pedophilia and rape that is portrayed in a positive light or written in graphic detail. While we understand that rape can be a part of a story, we prefer it be used as a fade to black scene before any rape takes place. Later issues of Erotic Dreams will deal with such themes as bestiality, water sports, scat and the more hardcore fetishes, but for now we will not use stories that include them. BDSM, D/s, whipping, spanking, etc are acceptable. If you are uncertain whether your story would be acceptable, simply send an email with the basic details of your work and we'll get back to you.

Poetry

Poems of an erotically, sensual nature are acceptable. The same guidelines for fiction apply.

Artwork

The only artwork we do not accept is real photographs and no real person manipulation.

Non Fiction

We accept articles of around 1000 words dealing with real life and it's issues, and the world of erotic writing.

Please send submissions and questions to sablestgermain@eroticdreamspublishing.com

For more specific information, including formatting guidelines, see their submissions page.

(Please Note: Erotic Dreams will be open to submissions for novellas and ebooks in Fall, 2006)

Cult Magazine Submissions

Earl Kemp makes this request for suggestions of cult type magazines deserving of an article about them, with pictures:

Miracles come rarely but one hit me in the face recently. I've been asked to put together a book on old, cult, or unusual magazines of significance. It is projected as a large, heavily illustrated volume done in encyclopedic form by magazine name. No particular genre involved
but all of our favorites are certainly welcome, especially if I'm doing the getting of the material.

Here's a quote from the boss: "This book started out as an encyclopedia of cult magazines and will still use an encyclopedia like setup, going from A to Z, so that headings will be the one or two word title of a particular magazine for each essay (in some cases the editor/publisher will supercede his magazine[s]: Ray Palmer is a case in point). A more descriptive subhead will go underneath. If authors have any photos, representative images, documents, etc, we can certainly use them since this will be a heavily illustrated tome.

"I would like to see well-written, chatty essays full of information about the subject. Writers should give behind the scenes background (if possible), short history, bio of principal editor or publisher, and a sense of the magazine's audience. We will run cover images to illustrate each piece. Feel free to suggest short sidebars (interviews, personal anecdotes, stranger than truth incidents, sacrifices, etc.) to go along with the essays. I guess you can think of this project as a better-organized, oversized fanzine with superior production values."

And this is where you come in:

I'm eager for suggestions as to magazine title, content, sidebars, illustrations...everything you think you might like to write for the book on your favorite topic. Naturally they must be approved before you do the actual writing.

Keep in mind that this will be for pay for a real book and your bennies, should you be lucky enough to slip one past me, will include copies of the book, fame and fortune and, if you're really lucky, sharing some serconing in Amsterdam.

Please send me your tentative suggestions ASAP. We have something like six months maximum to get our stuff together and do it up right.

Thanks,
earlkemp@citlink.net

Sexually Creative Writers Wanted

This email was forwarded to me:

To begin, I am purchasing this material for a project of mine that I will be developing for the next year or so. This material will be used for my website which will also be developed within approximately a year.

This is a work for hire. So, if you are comfortable with selling your work to me I am willing to buy them at an abundant rate of $25 per story. There will be no maximum of submitted material. However, as the writer, you will not have the right to the material or credit. If, my project sets sail in the direction that I am hoping, I will be glad to offer you an opportunity to
become an in-house writer for my project, thereupon, you WILL be given credit for your stories to thus develop your fan base following.

Also, you must be flexible to write in the format that I am looking. I am looking for a particular style of story telling. I am NOT looking for the conventional/normal form of sexual fantasies. I will let those who agree to this advertisement understand the criteria and requirements. Believe me, itÂ’s a piece of cake once you conceptualize the model of story telling that I need done.

Please respond to pearlrhinos@yahoo.com. Thank you.

Brief Notes

Browbeaten

Someone keeps emailing me regarding WinnerOfTheWeek.com, asking me to keep an eye on this "exciting & unique writing contest site" (presumably so that I can post about it here). However, none of the contest themes fit into the genres I cover here -- and I am tired of checking in to see if/when they will. So, I now post it for any of you who wish to keep an eye on it. Please, dear blog reader known here as "Someone", stop emailing me about this, or I will block you.

Review Op

I've posted before about why reviews & reviewers are important, so I feel the need to mention this new review posting opportunity. At ReviewParty.com I see nothing to limit the reviews of erotica & sexuality titles... So both should be fair game.

This is run by the same folks who run BloggerParty.com, and it seems to have the same compensation -- affiliate monies.

Likely it won't make you wealthy beyond your wildest dreams, but again, why not support erotica & human sexuality publications? And maybe you've been toying with blogging anyway...

Distant Horizons Call for Submissions

Editor: Greg Herren
Publisher: Haworth Positronic Press

Greg Herren is looking for new and established writers to submit work to his queer themed science fiction anthology Distant Horizons, to be published by the Haworth Positronic Press in the summer of 2007.

Stories must focus on either queer characters or queer themes. Think future worlds, this world's future, or alien visitation. Be creative, be original, and dazzle me with your imagination. Erotic content will not mean automatic rejection, but as this is not an erotic themed anthology, erotic content must be integral to the story and the characters, not the focus of the story. I'm looking for originality, strongly developed characters, and strong writing. Think Azimov, Heinlein, and Ellison.

Novel excerpts and previously published work are acceptable.

Payment will be $100, on publication.

FORMAT:

Electronic submissions will be deleted unread. A hard copy must be sent in to:

Greg Herren
5500 Prytania Street #215
New Orleans, LA 70115.

The story must be in a Times or Courier twelve point font, double-spaced with one inch margins. The author's name and the story title must appear on each page in the upper left hand corner with page numbers in the lower right. Please include a brief bio in the cover letter. Do not bind stories with anything other than paper clips. Any story that does not follow these guidelines will be automatically rejected, unread.

Submissions will not be accepted later than June 1, 2006.

Manuscripts will not be returned unless an SASE with sufficient postage is enclosed.

Please also enclose a stamped postcard, self-addressed, to acknowledge receipt of manuscript. If the card has not come back within two weeks of mailing, please send an inquiry to gregh121@aol.com. If you have any questions regarding the anthology or the guidelines, inquiries may also be sent to that email address. Please put Distant Horizons inquiry in the subject line.

Thank you.
Greg Herren, editor
